Gently pry it off or pull and twist it away from the door.
Remove door handle rose.
Straighten a paper clip and insert it into the hole.
If the rose doesn t come off with the knob you ll need to remove it separately.
Look for pin holes in the rose or in the lever body itself.
Wedge a pin or the tip of your flathead screwdriver under the small opening between the rose and the surface of the door.
A set screw is typically installed along the base of the lock on the interior side of the door.
Expose hidden set screws.
When repairing or replacing a doorknob lever you need to remove the faceplate also called a trim plate or rosette to gain access to the internal latch and mounting components.
In some cases the rose must be removed separately in order to expose the screws that hold the backing plate to the door.
If that s the case locate the thin slot in the seam.
You can usually twist or pry it off with a flathead screwdriver to expose the screws.
Apply a bit of pressure to the paper clip to trigger a release button inside the hardware.
It may be hidden.
Step 1 unscrew the door lever handle in order to get at the screws that hold the handle to the door you need to expose them by removing the plate that surrounds the lever handle also known as a rose.
Use a screwdriver to remove the set screws which will release the lock and lever from the opening.
