Depending on the door handle design the faceplate may be able to slide completely off. If the knob has a recessed setscrew turn the setscrew counterclockwise with a correctly sized. You rightfully infer it will be easy enough simply take out a few screws and take the knob right off. Unfortunately with a plethora of doorknobs available on the market you may not even know what kind you have.

Push this latch in and pull the handle off the door. Next find a small slot on the edge of the trim piece. You will notice that the screws for the interior knob are most likely hidden beneath the plate cover. You should see a tiny slot or hole.

Locate the hole underneath the doorknob shaft. Diy remove replace door s handle with hidden screws. Tug on the knob and it will slide right off. Remove a recessed screw.

If you don t see a screw head inside the slot. There should be a small latch near the base of the knob or handle probably on the exterior side of the door. Straighten a paper clip and insert it into the hole. If not rotate the faceplate until the underlying screws are accessible and use a phillips head screwdriver to remove them.

Insert the tip of a screwdriver and pry off the trim piece. Slide the cosmetic faceplate away from the door. Look for a recessed slot in the shaft of the handle.
